It’s family owned and run, with son Matthew leading the day-to-day experience, connecting with customers, recommending and sharing favorites, and bringing the shop to life.
Known as one of the most unique candy stores in NYC, the shop offers a highly curated mix of retro and nostalgic candy, and hard-to-find sweets from around the world. Long before it became a trend, The Sweet Shop NYC was one of the first in New York City to carry Swedish candy, setting the tone for what customers have come to expect, rare finds, standout quality, and something they can’t just get anywhere else. But this isn’t just about the candy.
It’s the full sweet shop experience, with delicious handcrafted chocolates, fresh baked cookies, Cups of Pie™, over-the-top Ice Cream Sundaes served in their signature “take out” container and over-flowing Speciality Hot Chocolates to keep you coming back for more.
At the center of it all is The Sweet Shop NYC Creamery Co., the shop’s own small-batch ice cream brand. Every flavor is a Sweet Shop NYC original, inspired by New York City classic desserts, and pure creativity, resulting in combinations you won’t find anywhere else.
In 2025, The Sweet Shop NYC was voted Best Candy Store in Manhattan by The City’s Best, recognition that reflects not just what’s on the shelves, but an experience people go out of their way to find.
